Video-MOS has renewed its innovative company certification by the National Innovation Company ENISA

Video-MOS has recently renewed its certification as a start-up, in accordance with Law 28/2022, of 21 December, on the promotion of the start-up ecosystem.

According to Article 4 of Law 28/2022, entrepreneurs who wanted to take advantage of the benefits and specialities of this law had to request ENISA, Empresa Nacional de Innovación, S.M.E., SA, to evaluate all the characteristics included in Articles 3 and 6, in addition to the criterion of the innovative and scalable nature of their business model.

ENISA, Empresa Nacional de Innovación, SME, SA, after the study and analysis of the application submitted on 24/07/2023, has certified the company with the company name VIDEOMOS QUALITY PROBE SL as a Startup for presenting the character of an innovative and scalable entrepreneurship.

Video-MOS is the leading company in automated MOS monitoring for the monitoring of the viewer’s experience of audiovisual content (Quality of Viewer Experience, QoE) through the analysis of the distortions detected in the content.

Its solution based on Artificial Intelligence software probes, deployable on any content (whether broadcasting, streaming or VoD file), provides the broadcaster, television station, content producer and/or aggregator, video platform, advertiser, etc., with a real-time interface to monitor their content.

It is a powerful complementary solution to the usual hardware-based solutions that simply measure signal quality (Quality of Service QoS). In this way, it allows monitoring in real time 7x24h, all the video channels of the content operators automatically, guaranteeing knowledge of the circumstances in which even with a correct signal quality (QoS), the viewer experiences a poor quality of experience (for example, pixelation, blur, etc.). The solution is accompanied by alarms and reports that facilitate a forensic practice never seen before for technical staff.

Brief Glossary

  • MOS: Mean Opinion Score is a subjective quality metric defined by the ITU that assesses viewers’ perception of the quality of audiovisual content viewed on a numerical scale from 1 to 5. It can be instantaneous (each sequence of three seconds and therefore fluctuating, or average of the program, therefore it is a fixed value).
  • Semantic analysis of distortions: Analysis of the nature of content by means of AI to weigh it accordingly. A news programme is not the same as a classic film, or a sports broadcast that meets the viewer’s expectations in its viewing. For example, in weather information programs, it is common to use static images of maps or photographs, so the system will recognize them as part of the expected content, differentiating them from real technical distortions. Or teleshopping programs with static elements, which usually present blurring.
